Dear Families,
The New Westminster School District has decided to close all schools today due to the snowfall. Therefore, all facilities in Westminster Childrens After School Society will be closed as well.
As we have begun another Winter Season here in the Lower Mainland, WCAS wants to remind all Parents/Guardians of our Winter weather policy and procedures to ensure all families are prepared for what to expect with the unpredictable weather ahead.
Safety is our priority and we ask that everyone use extreme caution should we receive substantial amounts of snowfall and or icy weather conditions.
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to have prearranged plans in the event of unexpected Center closure’s due to inclement weather.
In rare instances, where this is warranted, we will endeavour to announce the decision by 6:30am or soon thereafter via our website www.wcass.com under the “News-Important Notices” tab and or via email. Please be aware that if the New Westminster School District closes School’s due to inclement weather that all WCAS Centre’s will also be closed.
Additionally, if weather conditions deteriorate throughout the day, we ask that everyone’s Safety be kept in mind and that you ensure your child/children are picked up from the Centre’s as soon as possible. We ask that you have prearranged pick up plans in place for deterioration of weather conditions and possible early closures of Centre’s due to them. Just a friendly reminder to ensure that Parents/Guardians contact our centers to notify staff of any pick-up changes that might occur.
WCAS will make every attempt to ensure our centers are open on time and remain open, however our programs may be affected if staff cannot travel safely to/from work (ie. transit service delays and or suspensions, slippery/icy road conditions) due to this we do recommend that you phone your facility prior to heading out to it in the mornings to ensure staff have arrived and it is open. We will do our best in communicating any changes or closures as soon as possible.
Please ensure that your most up-to-date email address/phone number is on file at the Centre so you can receive communication in such events. We thank you in advance for your understanding, cooperation and support related to our Winter weather procedures, in which we are trying to ensure everyone’s Health and Safety.
Thank you and stay safe!
